Colossians 1:15 Devotional

Hello my friends. An image is an exact expression. Paul is declaring here that in the man Jesus we have the exact expression of all that God is.

Here, the word “first-born” means the heir, or the chief – the principal one, the owner. This phrase, “the first-born of all creation,” means that the Lord Jesus stands in relationship to creation just as an heir stands in relationship to his father’s property.

He is not part of it, but rather, he is the owner of it, the heir.

My prayer is that we would look at this verse with great aw and love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and pray for the second coming of the “first-born of creation”, Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

The Supremacy of the Son of God

¹⁵ The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. ¹⁶ For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. ¹⁷ He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. ¹⁸ And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. ¹⁹ For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, ²⁰ and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

²⁸ He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. ²⁹ To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

Colossians 1:28 – “ We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” (NIV)

Spiritual maturity is one of the heavenly blessings that is ours “in Christ Jesus.” Our heavenly Father desires that all of His children develop in this blessing of maturity: “that we may present every man perfect [mature] in Christ Jesus.”

As believers we have a perfect example of how to live, and love in this world. It is an example we cannot afford to ignore.

As God’s people are being built up, the goal is that “we all come…to a perfect [mature] man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children…but… may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ” (Ephesians 4:13-15).

Jesus is our standard of spiritual maturity. The Lord wants us to be maturing into the likeness of the character of Christ.

My prayer is that we would mature in our walks with Christ. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.

Colossians 2:6-7 – “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (NIV)

We must understand that the manner that we received Christ – through faith – is the same manner we are to walk in Him. We were born again by the Spirit, we must walk by the Spirit. Read More

It is good to recall how Jesus was the focus at the beginning of our walk with Him. When we received Him and His forgiveness, we knew He had to provide all that was needed for our salvation.

The word of God tells us that there is no other hope than Jesus. John 4:15 and Acts 4:12My prayer is that we would walk in Grace and fear of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
